“I need to do yoga.”

“I should be doing yoga.”
“I am not flexible enough.”
“I am too nervous to try it.”
These statements flow from many mouths of golden girls and guys who want to start a yoga practice but truly don’t know where or how to start. As we climb the aging mountain and begin to peak at the highest age of 50, its all downhill from here. Don’t let gravity take hold and pull you down physically, mentally, emotionally, and right now probably socially. Our lives generally consist of a daily working grind, 9 to 5, while making sure the home front fires are not burning out of control. AND some of us may be helping our own children with grand kid care, or us as children, taking care of our adult parents.
As we gracefully age, we need a faithful no fail exercise practice that does not let us down, one that keeps tenderly nudging us towards a more flexible mobile body and vital lifestyle. I can bore you with extensive (over 300 easy) studies done to show the benefits of a regular yoga practice, but I am not going to. We can all read words and inhale the scientific backing behind all of it, but in order to really gain anything you need to try it to see for yourself.
OK, I might use some of this research in layman’s terms to further convince you in later in social posting! MOST importantly, you live the scientific research. Trying to tie your own shoelaces, scratch your back, or put on your socks is research enough.
Everything is tight most everything hurts. Our bodies and minds shift to a different place of flexibility, balance, mobility and such. We find and use excuses not to exercise or move like we used to in our 20’s because it hurts, or we have a mindset holding us back that we have to be able to bend like a pretzel, and be able to stand on our head to even start yoga. Not true.
So where is our “me” time? The time to take care of me, myself, and I, even if it’s just 10 minutes a day, every day. For many of us, schedules are overbooked, and we are under served. Our time is challenged for a yoga practice or other fitness workout. Our day does not allow time to actually go out and attend yoga or fitness classes on a regular basis. So how can we adhere to this time constraint?
How about doing your yoga inside your own four walls? Yes, you can still get all the benefits of yoga … right in the comfort of your own home. With everything happening online right now, what better time to start! I share some words of encouragement from my marketing coach’s mother (she is in her 60’s) who just started her yoga practice at home.
• First, it’s convenient that I can do it when I’m ready to do it.
• Second, I like that if I need to stop, back up and look at her, I can do that.
• Third, I can do it at my own speed without pressure from holding anyone up.
• Fourth, if I bust my butt no one sees me (LOL).
• I would not have ever began yoga truly if I would have had to go somewhere.
So, what are you waiting for? Reach out, let me help you find an online option that fits your style, space, and time 😊
